1. About this Privacy Policy
1.1 This Privacy Policy explains how Gift Ripple Limited (“Gift Ripple”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information when you visit or use the Gift Ripple web app (‘Platform’).
1.2 This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, Cookie Policy and Acceptable Use Policy. Defined terms in this Privacy Policy have the meanings set out in our Terms and Conditions.
1.3 Gift Ripple helps parents and legal guardians organise meaningful gifts for children through Gift Ripple Collections. Protecting the privacy of children is particularly important to us. We expect all information relating to a child to be provided by their parent or legal guardian, or by someone authorised by them. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. We have designed Gift Ripple so that privacy and safeguarding are considered from the outset, rather than added afterwards. For example, contribution amounts are hidden from other contributors, Gift Ripple Collections are always password protected and children cannot create accounts themselves.

2. Whose information do we collect?
We may collect personal information about:
- Gift Ripple Collection creators;
- contributors;
- children featured on Gift Ripple Collections, including gift recipients and children of contributors;
- people who contact us; and
- visitors to our Platform.
3. What information do we collect?
3.1 Gift Ripple Collection creators
We may collect:
- your name;
- email address;
- password;
- post code;
- bank account details (processed through Stripe);
- information required by Stripe to verify your identity;
- details of your Gift Ripple Collection;
- photographs, videos and messages you upload;
- correspondence with us; and
- technical information about your use of our Platform.
3.2 Contributors
We may collect:
- your name;
- email address;
- contribution amount;
- gift messages;
- photographs or videos you choose to upload;
- payment confirmation;
- limited contact details to enable thank-you messages to be sent; and
- technical information about your use of our Platform.
Gift Ripple does not receive or store your payment card details. Payments are securely processed by Stripe.
3.3 Children
Information relating to children is provided by a parent or legal guardian (or someone authorised by them). Depending on the information added to a Gift Ripple Collection, we may collect:
- first name;
- photograph;
- age or milestone (for example, a birthday);
- hobbies and interests;
- gift preferences; and
- any other information the parent or legal guardian chooses to include.
We encourage parents and legal guardians only to include information that is genuinely needed for family and friends to participate in the gift. Please see our Community & Safety Guidelines for further details.
3.4 Platform visitors
When you visit our Platform we automatically collect certain technical information including your IP address, browser type, device information and information about how you use our Platform. Please see our Cookie Policy for further information.
4. How do we collect your information?
We collect personal information:
- when you create a Gift Ripple account;
- when you create or contribute to a Gift Ripple Collection;
- when you contact us;
- when you upload photographs, messages or other content;
- when you use our Platform;
- from Stripe in connection with payment processing, identity verification and withdrawals; and
- through cookies and similar technologies.
5. How do we use your information?
We only use your personal information where we have a lawful reason to do so.

6. Children’s information
Protecting children’s privacy is one of our priorities.
We expect all information about children to be provided by a parent or legal guardian (or someone authorised by them).
We ask parents and legal guardians only to upload information that is necessary for the purpose of creating a Gift Ripple Collection.
Gift Ripple Collections may include photographs and limited personal information about a child. Parents and legal guardians remain responsible for ensuring they have the authority to upload that information.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children or allow children to create Gift Ripple accounts.
7. Payments
Gift Ripple uses Stripe Connect to process all payments made through our Platform.
Stripe is responsible for processing payment information, carrying out identity verification, anti-money laundering checks and processing withdrawals.
Gift Ripple does not receive or store payment card details.
Your use of Stripe’s payment services is also subject to Stripe’s own privacy information and terms and conditions.
8. Who do we share your information with?
We only share your personal information where necessary.
This may include:
- Stripe, to process payments and verify identity;
- our Platform hosting and technology providers;
- providers who help us deliver emails and communications;
- professional advisers including lawyers, accountants and insurers;
- regulators, law enforcement agencies or courts where required by law; and
- any person or organisation where you have asked us to do so or where you have given your consent.
If Gift Ripple is sold or reorganised, your personal information may be transferred to the new owner.
We require anyone processing personal information on our behalf to keep it secure and only use it for the purposes we specify.
9. International transfers
Gift Ripple Collections may only be created by people who reside at an address with a United Kingdom postcode, however Gift Ripple does not restrict anyone from outside the UK in contributing to a Gift Ripple Collection. Please note that all personal data received and processed by Gift Ripple is done so in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, including all privacy laws.
Some of our service providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place so that your personal information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection in accordance with UK data protection law.
10. Keeping your information secure
We take the security of your personal information seriously.
We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against accidental loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
Access to personal information is limited to those who genuinely need it in order to provide the Gift Ripple Platform.
11. How long do we keep your information?
We only keep personal information for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purposes explained in this Privacy Policy or to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
Generally:
- account information is retained while your account remains active (at least one Gift Ripple Collection created per rolling year);
- payment and financial records are retained for at least six years to comply with legal and accounting obligations;
- customer support correspondence is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with enquiries and any subsequent issues; and
- technical information is retained in accordance with our Cookie Policy and the settings of our service providers.
Where information is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or anonymised.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on the circumstances, you have the right to:
- request access to your personal information;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information;
- object to certain types of processing;
- request a copy of your information in a portable format; and
- withdraw your consent where we rely on your consent.

13. Marketing
We will only send you marketing communications where you have asked to receive them or where we are otherwise permitted by law.
You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us.
Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send important service messages relating to your Gift Ripple account or Gift Ripple Collection.
14. Third party websites
Gift Ripple may contain links to third party websites, including partner businesses.
Those websites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for how they collect or use your personal information.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our Platform, the law or the way we use personal information.
